A.M.A.

Can You Prove Me Wrong about the A.M.A.?

A.M.A. aka the American Money Association aka the American Medical Association.  The latest statistics state that only 20% of doctors in the USA are general practitioners; 80% are specialists.  Is this a good thing?  Specialists make 200% - 300% more than general practitioners earn.  Sounds like Wall Street type greed has won again.

Does the AMA keep an artificial shortage of doctors to keep prices up?  I believe they do.  Profit is more important than care.  I believe it is time for government-sponsored doctor and nursing training schools.  We need more doctors and nurses than our private institutions will provide with millions of new patients coming into the system with national health care.  Of course their lobbyists will fight this to the death.  Should we care if doctors have to drive Chevy vs. Mercedes.  “Capitalism” will not solve this issue.  It is time for our Neanderthal leaders to care more about patients than lobbyists.

I am not saying that our current doctors and nurses are not hard-working professionals.  They are the best in the world.  But they are overburdened.  Our lack of foresight in preventative health care is shameful.  A whole new group of professionals should be established to focus on preventative health care.  The ravings of conservatives about socialism are baseless.  Health care, police and fire protection have already been socialized.

Every person we meet should be the source of a new exchange of values and ideas, without the fear of religious or nationalistic notions interfering with the meeting.
