Population Control

Can You Prove Me Wrong about Population Control?

The wars of the future will be fought over dwindling natural resources.

To ease the burden on our dwindling natural resources, we should strive to find a viable means of reversible sterilization for all children.

Just like a driver’s license helps protect other drivers (because of training,) reproduction should require a parenting license. An individual would be eligible at the age of 21, provided they pass minimal parenting and financial tests.  This will also eliminate teen pregnancy, slow down crime (unwanted children are the cause of most crime) and eliminate abortion.

When we are forced by society to earn a right, we value it more.  To allow unwanted children to be born is an outrage.  Let’s make sure all children are born into proper environments. This would give every child a fighting chance at a good life.

If this isn’t enough of a reason, then overpopulation and its effects on the earth's environment is.

While I know the religious conservatives would like to kill me for promoting these ideas, let me explain.  I was raised Catholic with 6 sisters and brothers.  In the 1950s, with world population at 2.5 billion, that was acceptable.

Scientists calculate the earth's resources can only comfortably support a population of 2 billion. But we went from 2.5 billion in 1950, to 6 billion in 2000. At the rate we’re going, they’re predicting about 9 billion in 2040.   And the counter keeps ticking. This is not sustainable.

Some scientists are reluctant to say that global warming is real.  Go back to "the wave" and take the hurricane. for example.  Yes, there are 30-40 year cycles, but look at it this way.

Throw in global warming from overpopulation and it turns into a building wave. That is the wave at play. Human interaction is altering this cycle with possibly non-reversible catastrophic result.

Add the melting of Arctic and Antarctic ice caps, and the following rise in ocean levels and the coastline will be shrinking.

We must change now or nature will do it for us, e.g., SARS or H.I.V.
