Can You Prove Me Wrong about the Gods?
Humans have worshiped many different gods throughout history. Older gods and festivals were incorporated into newer religions to make them more acceptable to the masses.
In the fourth century, Rome was divided by religion (Pagans and Christians.) The Roman Emperor Constantine needed to unite his empire. He cleverly converted to Christianity, and passed a law declaring Sunday a day of rest (when pagans worshipped the sun-god) instead of Saturday.
All Christian holidays were originally pagan holidays. The goddess Ishtar was born on Easter by coming out of heaven in a giant egg. Christmas was when her son Tammuz was born, and when ancient Romans celebrated Saturnalia. Read more about them at Christian Feast Days and Their Relationship to Pagan Holidays or Evil Holidays.
These “pagan gods” were just as real to the ancients, as our present “God” is to us. We can look back and say they were “fools” for believing in them. But are we any different?
The ancient Egyptians had a god for every circumstance. Add in the African, Anglo Saxon, Asian, Australian, Aztec, Canaanite, Chinese, Christian, Erza/Moksha, Estonian, Etruscan, Finnish, Gaulish/Brythonic, Germanic, Greek, Hindu, Hittite/Hurrian, Hungarian, Incan, Irish, Islamic, Japanese, Judaism, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Lusitanian, Lydian, Malaysian Chinese, Mayan, Mesopotamian, Native American, Norse, Ossetian, Pacific Island, Paleo-Balkanic, Persian, Philippine, Polynesian, Roman, Sami, Satanic, Scottish, Slavic, Voodoo, Welsh, and Wiccan gods, and the outstanding total is impossible to count!
