Can You Prove Me Wrong about Fear?
Without knowing it, humans are controlled by fear!
Fear of failing to achieve heaven or paradise is the number one fear. We have been indoctrinated since our earliest memories as if we had something to do with original sin.
Of course the sin is religious leaders “teaching”that this life is just a
proving ground for the afterlife.
The “keeping up with the Jonses” is another indoctrinated fear people have, an innate fear of getting the newest SUV or iPhone and seeing their peers getting a newer one. There are more advertising agents alive today than in the history of humankind. Their focus is to ensure you feel deprived if you don’t have the newest widget. This rarely involves the truth!
These spin doctors have no honor. Their profession involves making you fearful of being less cool or intelligent than your neighbors. Then after you acquire the "must have" item, the fear of how to pay for it sets in. The sheep mentality makes this easy to accomplish.
The media also thrive on fear! But look at it this way. There are only 7 minutes of so-called hard news. The remainder is filler and commercials. The world population passed 7 billion humans in July 2011. There are over 1 billion cameras on this planet! And the network news shows 7minutes of the worst. Turn this around. 99% of the world muddled through another day.
A good friend of mine was telling me a story of his big win at a local casino.
He had heard stories from the media about how gambling patrons had been robbed on the casino parking lot; or worse, had been followed home and been attacked in their residence. His understandable fear cautioned him to walk around the casino for awhile, then take a different exit. Then he strolled around the parking lot to see if he was being followed. What should have been a glorious moment was tainted by the fear of loss. This ingrained fear can rule our existence. Is this logical? Yes it is. Evolution has wired animals to fear the unknown. This is part of our survival of the fittest programing. This allows humans to temper fear with judgment.
A friend of mine, who volunteers at a local church, was reading this website when the pastor came by. His comment was are you reading propaganda? He offered to let the pastor read it, but the pastor refused! This is an example of a closed mind. People who have invested their entire life in a beleaguered attempt to justify their mistaken beliefs are fearful of the possibility that they could be wrong! This is why I see danger in our future.
Every person we meet should be the source of a new exchange of values and ideas, without the fear of religious or nationalistic notions interfering with the meeting.
